Oy.
Yikes.
Have a gin and tonic on me.
That all sounds very familiar except for the part about getting home at 7 pm. That’s a long work day!
I also don’t see the “have a peaceful conversation with supermum” in there, though that might be a “domestic necessity”.
Makes me feel anxious just reading it. Stay strong …
i know the feeling well. I’m assured that as they get older things will get better, and then we’ll miss these days.
Gaahhhhh! I hope they both sleep right through tonight (sorry if that is tempting fate!) Last night I had the fright of my life when I went to check on Kikzy at 10.30pm… only to discover his bed empty… and him lying on the floor! He was fast asleep on the carpet and did not want to budge. Better than roaring the place down, I know, but I get panicky still just thinking about it!
Hey! Sorry about the above – I love them dearly but sometimes all I want is sleep – six or seven hours uninterrupted sleep!
Henitsirk, we do have peaceful conversations, though too many of them are along the lines of
“Was that dudelette?”
“Shh! She might hear us!”
“Is she waking up?”
“I don’t think so…Uh-oh, there she goes again…”
“She could be hungry.”
“Or she might have pooed.”
“I think she’s settling down again – what time is it?”
“3:43am”
[Dudele's voice, offstage...]
“Daaaaddyyyyyy…”
But we all know it well…
Helen, dudelet’s done that a few times! Next time, I’ll probably just drop a blanket on him and go back to bed…
Tell me about it! And what amuses and amazes me is we still find some time some how to make babies! I never cease to amaze myself :)
You need a holiday, relaxed dad … you are quite unrelaxed!
Mmm…A holiday.
I think two is quite enough for us, though…
This totally sounds like my life 11 years ago, except we only have one child. The good news is, this is all only temporary. The bad news is exactly the same.
“The bad news is exactly the same.” So true – something that I’m all too aware of second time around.
Truly… these won’t seem like blah, bad days, when they start their social lives, sports schedules, and you will one day crave the comforting routine of nothingness.
