That is, Dudelette is. At ten and a half months. She’s also squatting down, picking things up and standing up again.
Uh-oh.
Supermum texted me at work. Dudelette had dashed a few steps here and there but suddenly she was shaking supermum’s hand away and running the length of the house. And I mean running, I saw the films.
She’s also done her first bit of hoarding. She stomped into her brothers room, chose a bottle of glue (why glue?), stomped to the front room, showed it to him, stomped off to her room (all with me in tow like a little tugboat with a slightly battered all-purpose cargo platform) and opened one of the clothes drawers she could reach. She dropped the glue and played “empty the drawer” for a bit before remembering, picking it up and planting it in the back of the drawer. She then turned away, turned back, took it out and (satisfied it was still there) put it back in again. Then we stormed off to wake up mummy.
Well, I’m rivetted. Next week, higher maths and gymnastics. I’m getting scared.

That’s so sweet! You’ll be getting a workout now!
Congratulations! This is great news.
My littlest one is so lazy he is in his eighth month but still can’t sit for too long without flopping. He is a ‘bit’ fat.
Sounds like you need to change the name of your blog – who can be relaxed with a 10 month old running around the house!
She sounds like a complete character. I love the stomping and storming images.
no offense meant…but lots of good humor.
our puppy, now almost two, has gone from stealing and tearing apart all socks, to stealing socks and then carefully nudging them into the cracks around the cushions in the sofa.
some mammal thing?
it’s interesting that with the puppy, it’s actually a softening in him…a “taking care” of sort of move as opposed to a mindless toss and chew thing.
some mammal thing?
you’re in for it.
have fun !
Mobility and hand-eye coordination take it to another level, don’t they? Just wait until she starts to talk, then you’re in triple threat territory!
Congrats to Dudelette! She’ll keep you on your toes for sure!
Oh, my.
I’m quaking in my slippers along with you, and noting that the first thing she went after was something that belongs to her brother. A declaration of intent?
Hi! Where’s the week gone?
A – but the way you describe it is so cute! Anyway, dudelette has to be mobile to cope with you-know-who…And yes, Helen, we’re getting a lot of exercise.
Jennifer, haven’t you ever wondered about my own nom-du-blog? :)
Charlotte, Helen, Henitsirk, yogamum – yes, basically. She’s going to be a terror, I think.
Openpalm, I think there’s always been a puppy element – one of her favourite things is to empty a drawer. throwing the contents in all directions.
S – that’s something that hadn’t occurred to me. Hopefully, it hasn’t occurred to him…
Turns out one Dudelettes aunts walked at 9 months so it runs in the family. She’s the Aunt that also jumps out of aeroplanes now … for fun …
Hey! Supermum’s avtaar has cute pink baby shoes!
You really should recognize them!
I raised two girls.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
I did ;) and feel honoured. Thank you, Supermum!
That is very exciting and totally frightening. I was glad that Ada didn’t walk until 13 months, I needed that extra time. The hoarding, however, started much earlier. We were very proud.
