Charlotte tagged me nearly two weeks ago (just noticed!) for a meme originated by Bine in Cologne. The rules are simple but present me with something of a dilemma.
List one fact, word or tidbit that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your first or middle name. You can theme it to your blog or make it general. Then tag one person for each letter of your name.
So which name? My real one? Comfortably short (though not too short) but only known to a few of you. My nom du blog? Ah, unfortunately long. Especially given the final requirement to tag one person for each letter…
Still, it’s the logical choice, though I can already predict that this could get very silly before I’m done.
Okay, (U). Now there aren’t a whole lot of words in English that begin with (U) so this titbit is
(U) is for (Un)relaxeddad - Why? Good question. I suppose it tries to reflect what the ongoing theme of the blog is, even though I stray very frequently onto pretty much any other subject, the way I’d love to be about parenting and the tendency I have to operate at a pretty stressed level – except in a crisis. I’m actually reasonably focused in a crisis.
N is for Neil Young. The first time I saw Neil Young was in 1982 on the notorious Trans tour. I was in row 5 of the Birmingham National Exhibition centre and probably lost some of my hearing – NME reviewed it as the most unlikely heavy metal gig of the year. Trans was (with some justice) widely derided but the shows where something else. I spent the night on Birmingham station afterwards but I couldn’t have slept, anyway.
R is for reading. I wasn’t allowed to learn how to read until I got to school at five. By year two, I’d run out of books so they started to send out to the nearby junior school. Books are probably a dominant theme of my life, even more so than music.
E is for Eccentric. “Well,” commented my boss, “You are a bit eccentric.” Thanks a bunch.
L is for London. Where I live.
A is for Archery. Japanese archery, to be precise. I can’t practice at the moment (study and impending baby) but I think about it a lot.
X is for X-Certificate horror movie. The serious one I ever saw was Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead in an all-night cinema in Kings’ Cross during a brief period of homelessness more than two decades ago. Long story.
E (oh not ‘E’ again) is for Empty Bottles. There was a living room a long time ago which had a decor entirely consisting of empty green bottles lining the walls. without a single gap (excepting the door).
D is for Dudelet. No further explanation necessarily.
D is for Dudelette. Incoming. Two weeks.
A is for Aniseed. I hate the taste of aniseed. And licorice. Especially salted licorice.
D is for Done.
So there you go. Quite dull, really, but given (see “E”) my boss’s input, that’s kind of a relief.
Oh yeah – nominees. Believe it or not, I need twelve of you !
L.A. Daddy (because he obviously hasn’t got enough to do)
Actually, six seems quite enough. (Phew – only ten more days of NaBloPoMo to go!)

Ooh, now I feel like I’m in the cool “I know (un)relaxeddad’s real name” club! : ) Though, you could have chosen your middle name (don’t know that one).
Evil Dead was rated X in the UK? Ah, IMDB informs me it was NC-17 in the US. I guess I only remember it as a silly movie, not a gory one.
You eccentric London-dweller you!
I think licorice is like Marmite – you either love it or you hate it. It’s not something to be lukewarm about. Personally, I’m in your camp. Blech.
I don’t know why you are shy about sharing your real name, Marmaduke Hebblethwaite is a perfectly good name.
But think of the amount of tagging I’d have to do! I don’t think my blogroll’s long enough.
